Local 1000A and UFCW Canada Local 206 merged on May 1, 2016 into UFCW Canada Local 1006A. But even with a “hot freight” clause, EU law does not allow us to ask our members to refuse this assigned work – the handling of those Coke products that arrive in stores. Nor does it allow our members to hide their faces to reject this work in this case. We are not currently in a position of legal strike. On Thursday, June 27, 700 workers at Coca Cola`s Brampton bottling plant went on a legal strike. The workers are members of the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) Local 973. The latest information we have is that there has been no production at the factory since the strike began. .
